A hero is defined as someone of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their great deeds and noble qualities. While many associate heroes with fictional superheroes from Marvel or DC, the real-life heroes among us don’t wear capes or possess superhuman powers. Instead, they show immense courage while risking everything to protect our freedoms, our nation, and our values.

And the sad truth is, not all of these heroes return home to a hero’s welcome or a secure financial situation. After their service, many face significant challenges when readjusting to civilian life, sometimes finding themselves in financial hardship years later. With the rising cost of living, even basic necessities like food or heating their homes can become difficult to afford.

The heroes we’re talking about are the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. These extraordinary individuals dedicated their lives to ensuring our safety and freedom, allowing us to sleep peacefully at night.
